Hey dude, how do you stop a macbook pro from running startup programs? I am using one from my work and keeps running this ridiculous filesharing program at startup and it slows the whole process down. Also, I need to take the retard porn off of my hard drive, is there a secure way to do so? (the first question was serious)

No google involved, how do you active the preference to use caps lock as shift on a macbook. (you can't google it either, it's actually not that complicated)

I'll email you the specs and some pics. It's pretty beat up. No dead pixels. Yay. The optical drive is done. And someone apparently thought they could pry a disc out of it. Also, little or no hdd space left. I'm sure you can work that out.

How to disable "Open at Login" on MAC OS 10.5.4

I'm a teacher and the students at my school have discovered ctrl-click on the doc icons to set applications to open at login. A couple computers had everything... EVERYTHING opening at login. Little bastards! You can imagine the effect when the next user logs in.

So... I've done hours of fruitless research in various Mac forums before I've come to you guys for help...

PLEASE... is there a way to disable this so students can't do this in the future?

If they each have their own accounts (which they should) then this may help.

The iPod Touch is great at everything but keeping time, which is important for a calendar app.

I've spent the last 45 minutes researching this on other forums hoping to find a cure. It is all over Apple's discussion boards, but I couldn't find it on Apple's support site. It looks like the problem has been going on for as long as the touch has been manufactured, through every update.

The problem is this specifically this: when you sync a touch, the time and date are set to a random inaccurate time and date. Sometimes it's weeks off, sometimes it's hours off.

Yes, my computer clock is correct, my time zone is correct, my DST settings are correct, and my region settings are correct.

The problem is with itunes from what I can gather. Two of the discussions I found said that when Windows hibernates itunes can't figure out what time it is and sets your ipod to a wierd time once you sync it. My PC is a desktop and never hibernates, but it does sleep. Sleep causes this itunes bug to surface as well.

The "fix" is to close then reopen itunes before you sync an ipod if the PC went into hibernation or went to sleep since the last time you opened itunes.

This "fix" works. I just tried it. I set my ipod clock to reflect my pc then synced my ipod. Itunes changed both the time and date to Jan 3rd at 5AMish (several weeks ago, per as usual). I then closed itunes and reopened it and synced it again. This time itunes knew the correct time and date and corrected it on my touch.

I would like to eliminate this issue. I can't find a setting to stop itunes from setting the clock on the touch. There are no clock settings in itunes either.

Does anyone know of a fix for this itunes bug, besides restarting itunes every time my PC goes to sleep?

The solution wasn't on the link you suggested, but... it was on a page I found that was linked from the page you gave (which I would never have found without your help) so thank you, you've saved me many hours of repetitive work.
