Apple started the move to intel in 2006..... wow that's the one thing I dig about apple every few years they flat-out punt old tech into obscurity. I wish Windows could do the same but the fault of their market share is that they have major companies running on some seriously old stuff. I know we are in the process of moving some functions from the Win 2K servers they were built on to support server 2008.

So far, I'd say the disadvantages (no more plug into any printer, minor compatibility issues) outweigh the advantages (improved expose and finder features that are cool, but you'll rarely use them. It isn't really any faster).

Leopard is awesome. If it wasn't a pain in the ass, I'd switch back to leopard simply for the printer support.

Can you change the USB configuration of the MacBook from hub USB to direct USB?

For some reason, the MacBook is the only Mac that is set up like this, it also happens to be the only set up that does not work on my new gigantic scanner.

Fortunately, after much testing and scouring of the internet, I sorted out that it works fine on any other mac but mine(and any PC)...thanks Apple, always making it hard for everyone. Anyway, if I can switch it with a firmware tweak or something like that, it would help immensely.

Unfortunately I don't think I've heard of the exact problem you're talking about spooky, but I did learn that the first USB port that you plug in becomes the dominant, high powered port. Maybe plugging it in first helps?

I have an airport extreme base station.

My netflix set-top box died and I'm thinking about buying a Bluray Player with netflix streaming to replace it.

The only Bluray players with N wireless cost about $120 more than Bluray players with only an ethernet port. I really want the N wireless so that if I move my TV, the high speed conection from netflix goes with it.

It's tough to explain, but will the airport express join my wireless airport extreme network and send the signal as an output to the ethernet port on the airport express? I essentially want to buy an airport express and use it as a wireless adapter for a Bluray player that only has a wired ethernet port.

Anyone know if this will work? If wireless N DVD players are $120 more, I'd rather spend that money on an airport express which has much more functionality than just as a router.
