Yeah, Leopard is still compatible with PowerPC machines like the PowerBook, but the next version of Mac OS X, Snow Leopard won't be, so watch for that.
You can install Leopard using your MacBook Pro. Just boot your MacBook Pro off the Leopard disc (by inserting it and holding C on start up), and boot the PowerBook up in Target Disk Mode (by holding down the T key on startup, and connect the firewire cable to both machines. You can do the same method by copying the Leopard Disk Image onto the external drive and then doing the target disk mode thing again. This however is not sanctioned by Apple, but here's a link: Installing Leopard From DMG « gWHIZ Good luck. |

new admin password
If you ever buy a used mac and can't get into the admin password this works. I've done it a different versions of OSX. One a 122" powerbook and another on my GF's 25" al. She kept when they laid her off (Pretty gangster thing to do I think).
Create the new password and then use system preferences to manage all other passwords (like reset the old password) To reset your OS X password without an OS X CD you need to enter terminal and create a new admin account: Reboot Hold apple + s down after you hear the chime. When you get text prompt enter in these terminal commands to create a brand new admin account (hitting return after each line): mount -uw / rm /var/db/.AppleSetupDone shutdown -h now After rebooting you should have a brand new admin account. When you login as the new admin you can simply delete the old one and you’re good to go again!

I replaced my Palm V with an iPod touch (syncing with an up to date copy of Vista, running the latest greatest ipod touch firmware.)
The iPod Touch is great at everything but keeping time, which is important for a calendar app. I've spent the last 45 minutes researching this on other forums hoping to find a cure. It is all over Apple's discussion boards, but I couldn't find it on Apple's support site. It looks like the problem has been going on for as long as the touch has been manufactured, through every update. The problem is this specifically this: when you sync a touch, the time and date are set to a random inaccurate time and date. Sometimes it's weeks off, sometimes it's hours off. Yes, my computer clock is correct, my time zone is correct, my DST settings are correct, and my region settings are correct. The problem is with itunes from what I can gather. Two of the discussions I found said that when Windows hibernates itunes can't figure out what time it is and sets your ipod to a wierd time once you sync it. My PC is a desktop and never hibernates, but it does sleep. Sleep causes this itunes bug to surface as well. The "fix" is to close then reopen itunes before you sync an ipod if the PC went into hibernation or went to sleep since the last time you opened itunes. This "fix" works. I just tried it. I set my ipod clock to reflect my pc then synced my ipod. Itunes changed both the time and date to Jan 3rd at 5AMish (several weeks ago, per as usual). I then closed itunes and reopened it and synced it again. This time itunes knew the correct time and date and corrected it on my touch. I would like to eliminate this issue. I can't find a setting to stop itunes from setting the clock on the touch. There are no clock settings in itunes either. Does anyone know of a fix for this itunes bug, besides restarting itunes every time my PC goes to sleep? |

My problem started about a month ago. While playing Podcasts or music in Itunes on a mac, It will stop for a split second up to a few seconds. I have tried shutting down programs but that didn't help.
Thx for any help |
