So my cd/dvd drive is fucked. I have a refurbished MacBook and this is the second drive. I will put any cd or dvd in and it waits about 5 seconds and then spits it back out again. I am trying to download Office:mac 2008 and it's just not cooperating! bleh.

Well, the only remedy for that is a new CD/DVD drive I guess, if every single disc gets spat out again. Does even your Mac OS X Install Disc get spat out? Try putting it in as you shut your computer down, then on Startup, hold down the C key. If it doesn't boot from the disc or spits it out again, take it to an Apple Store. If it's out of warranty, it depends on how far out it is, and what you say at the Apple Store. If you're nice and whatever, they're generally pretty lenient, especially if you got it replaced at that same Store last time.

Good luck

You may also have a lens that needs cleaning. You can by those lens cleaning thingies pretty cheap and try that.

I'll try this. But I believe this is not available when trying to upload photos. Or at least it's not available on mine. Maybe it's a folder permission thing.

I find it funny that I can't upload a picture but I can break into a powerbook.

btw... I have 12 powerbook (pretty beat up) with a bad optical drive that I can sell. I was going to try to do something with it, but I just have no room or time for more projects. I got it from a buddy who got it from a buddy, etc...

If you right click on the iphoto library file you can "show it's content" and then you'll find your photos under the originals and modified folders. This doesn't work with upload though so the best thing you could do is copy the photos you want to upload from iPhoto to a temp folder or your desktop.

iPhoto 09 has facebook and flickr upload features though.
