Bruno, I don't think you're entirely certain of the location of your left nostril.

Politics might not be the best subject of discussion for you.

From the VP debates from Biden
"Asked if he would support gay marriage, Biden said: "No. Barack Obama nor I support redefining from a civil side what constitutes marriage.""

In an interview with the Chicago Daily Tribune, Obama said, "I'm a Christian. And so, although I try not to have my religious beliefs dominate or determine my political views on this issue, I do believe that tradition, and my religious beliefs say that marriage is something sanctified between a man and a woman."

We have Civil Unions here. There is a difference. People here argue that giving gay couples the right to union without getting married is to make them second classed citizens. I kinda agree with that argument - that they can't marry, but they can have something LIKE marriage, but a lesser equivalent. It just reinforces the idea that marriage is for straight couples only, which I think is wrong.

Completly agree Bebe.

I suppose Common Law would be under the same category too.

I agree. Why politics has to dictate who gets married and who does not is just silly. Most marriges do not last now a day so maybe gay marriage can teach straight marriage a thing or two.

Amazing how this is America land of the free and shit and they will not let gay people marry. Due to what some sort of moral bullshit that both parties keep spitting. Since when is the government dictating my morals.

Apparently starving children, a shitty economy and war just are not as important as wether or not gay people marry. Fuck them!

Yah, except that common law comes from the Magna Carta, and is much more about fundamental basic human rights, so it's a bit more sensible than most of the laws we have nowadays.

We have common law too - it comes from Britain.

Freakin' Commonwealth

Common Law is automatic here after cohabitating for 6 months.

I suppose there is the line as to what refers to it, can to of age roommates be considered common law and get tax status?

Where is the line drawn, or does it even have to be.
