SPOILERS AHEAD!
Yes Batman RIP just concluded. The ending and Bruce Wayne's death at Reichenbach falls is a big homage to Moriarty 'killing' Sherlock Holmes. Holmes was only faking his death to rest (in peace). He'll return. This is comics, no-one ever really dies. Last edited by standardman; 11-29-2008 at 01:01 PM. |

I will bow to Standardman's superior comic book wisdom. The article did say that Batman would continue on with someone else in the suit. But will it be Robin? And I wonder if it explains why Bruce Waynes father faked his death to become a bad/good/good/bad guy? He was a philanthropist was he not? So many unanswered questions.

Thor communicated with his spirit a year on but that's the closest we've seem to him returning. Bucky* did take up the shield though, so while Steve Rogers is dead, Captain America continues and I expect a similar thing to happen in Batman. *Incidentally, Bucky's death used to one of the only ones that was considered permanent. The Bucky Clause was often said when a hero 'died', "No one in comics stays dead except Bucky, DC Comics' Jason Todd, Spider-Man's Uncle Ben and girlfriend Gwen Stacy". Since then, only Uncle Ben and Gwen Stacy remain dead and Gwen Stacy was cloned. Comics are funny like that.

I'll say this, Grant Morrison's run on Batman has been the freshest in a couple of decades and nicely ties in all the stuff from the old comics that I love (and tend to put in my sig). His whole arc is well worth picking up. |
