Live show auto-updater (CLICK HERE!!!)

Ok whiners,
I do alot of bs'ing here on the forums read alot but don't put much back (or I feel that way)

Here's my gift to you...

I want to set up an email alert system for suprise live shows....

basically if you send me your email addy, anytime there is a live show I will email you so you know... I would need help from other senior members but basically, you'd get a bcc message that we would send out whenever we find out about a live show. I have the semantics worked out so don't ask questions... (we would need like 100 people to sign up though to make it worthwhile)

and I'll put you in the distribution list. If you're a cute female please include a pic and where you will be this Wednesday... If we get enough of a user base we could have fan contests for KATG stuff as well... (just a thought)

Also if you're a senior member and wanna help let me know...

I have tried a number of times but never managed. Can someone please explain how it is done. I get to the live show link ... then what??? Thanks.
I probaly never managed as live shows are always at 4 am here, so I am usually either very drunk or asleep .....

Stare at the link in deep concentration while clicking your heels three times, and chant, "There's nothing like a Keith and The Girl show, There's NOTHING like a Keith and The Girl show." Then it will begin playing. It's like magic.

Or, you could click the link and it will play in your favorite media player. (WinAmp works like a charm.)

Some of the shows DURING the week KATG do them LIVE. So the times are always different

Here's the best way to go about this IMO, and I'm no programmer...

Develop a small application that checks the address of http://liveshow.keithandthegirl.com:8004 for the following text every 10 (?) minutes -

Server is currently up and public.

That text will only match if the server is up (I.E., whenever KATG broadcasts the live feed to the server). If it's not, the text will say "Server is currently down."

After it matches the text, have it trigger a popup, send an Email, launch http://liveshow.keithandthegirl.com:8004/listen.pls, whatever.

I'd have no idea how to implement that... can anyone help?
