Soundgarden Still Have it!

When i heard they were reuniting for some shows, i shook my head in disgust. Cornell was dead to me, after his late solo stuff (and the horrible stage performances with Audioaslave).

But then, a friend sent me the link to this:

Holy Shit. He might be off key (but he always was). But listen to the fuckin' band!!!! TIGHT AS FUCK. Now i have another show to see before i die..

I saw your tweet about this. I disagree.

But then I never liked them in the first place. Continue about your business.

I bow to this video.

I keep seeing Cornell's tweets about the band in studio and squeeing like a little girl.

I'm impressed how they decided to post the video to one of the more old-school/Heavy/Sabbath-y songs instead of showing stuff like "Spoonman" or "Black Hole Sun". I loved early Soundgarden. If they can still do that, without Cornell messing it up too much (at least he still looks good. Jeez, would you say he's in his 40's? Wow), i would be a happy guy.

Gimme a decent rendition of "Rusty Cage" or (Gulp) "Jesus Christ Pose" and i will bow.

They're Back

Wow, this has always been my favorite Soundgarden songs. This is truly a treat to see - thanks for the link!

When did Cris Cornell decide to become a King Diamond impersonator?

Soundgarden has exactly 2 sounds worth listening to. This is the way it needs to stay. Somethings from my formative years need not be tarnished by aging metal musicians trying to relive the glory days. So if you had a few mega hits in the 80's or 90's STOP IT all of you.

In the very early albums he sounded very much like a higher pitched Robert Plant. From Badmotofinger (Amen) on he worked it out in what's one of the most inflkuental ways to sing of the 90's. Especially in the retro rock commun ity, there's a bunch of guys who copy his style (who's a personalized mixture of all the best hard rock singers of the 70s).

"Beyon The Wheel" is an old classic. There's a song on the bery good "Singles" OST, named "Birth Ritual" where he sings at an even higher pitch.

Lately he became embarassingly bad, but it's reassuring to hear that he still can hit the higher note without fucking it up horribly (like in all the audioslave or solo shows i've seen)

Fuck yes - I don't care if bands like this get back together because I still see potential for more great music. They sound awesome and I just hope they are in Spain in July/August and if not, they add Perth to any touring they do.

In other new, Limp Bizkit have a new track up;

Why Try?

I take Limp Bizkit for what they are - dumb fun (the first album and last EP are awesome).

Back to Soundgarden; I never listened to them when they were a band even though my brother had all their albums and constantly praised them. I started listening to them when there was no chance of seeing them live - I'm fuckin excited for what may be.

I need to go tune my guitar all wonky to play Burden In My Hand
