If anyone else who has been through abuse or can relate to Mike's story, or my own, and would like to talk about it, I figured it might be good to start a thread?

I consider myself pretty well-adjusted and healed from my past abuses, but hearing more and more people identify with this was triggering, upsetting, and it just made me sad that I am not alone... it made me sad that so many people as kids had to go through this.

So if you want to share, feel free, since you're not alone.

So I'd like to think I'm pretty healed and well-adjusted from being molested by 2 different family friends. All things considered, I'm ok. It doesn't even come up in therapy. My close friends know what's up too, one of them is a KATG listener so I braced her for "my comment was read on the show, about the thing."

And it's not like I make jokes about being molested or raped or anything, but I'm not always walking around hurt by it, if that makes sense. Anyways, the one day me and my girl friends were hanging out, drinking and chatting about kids, growing up, and the varying degrees of our parents strictness and watchfulness. It was along the lines of a friend saying "my mom never let me go anywhere and I was such a pussy for it" and someone else "my mom let me do what I want, she really should have kept a closer eye on me" and others chiming in how kids need to be able to have some freedom, you can't hover all the time, etc. Then I just deadpanned "my mom never knew where I was roaming around and I got molested" and then just cracked up laughing. No one else laughed.... oops.

As far as I can tell I wasn’t molested as a child , so I can’t share my story here.
Now I’m trying to write something funny and failing completely!
