Born in Vancouver, Canada but moved here when I was 4. So my accent is Australian and I've been here nearly 21 years longer than Canada but my citizenship is solely Canadian at the moment. I've paid to become a citizen, done the "interview" and am now awaiting the papers for the ceremony.

The only real "question" was, "Do you know your rights and responsibilities as an Australian citizen?". I knew what they were and I opened my mouth to start spitting them out and he pushed a paper titled, 'Rights and Responsibilities of Australian Citizens" under my nose. So basically, if I didn't know the answer he had the cheat sheet there for me.
It was great being interviewed by someone with a strong Indian accent who must have only been in Australia 5 years tops interviewing me for Australian citizenship. I was ready to pledge my allegiance to Ganesh if the interview was starting to turn sour. |
