Since my awkwardly shaped and massive feet tend to destroy the seams of most shoes I was thinking of picking up some crocs, which might hold up better and are about the same price. I'm looking at picking up a hiking version and a normal shoe version. Maybe something like these:

care to elaborate? Any alternatives? I'm looking for solid rubber-like material that wraps from the soul over the toe region

Well the last croc might be okay... I just want to let you know, if you get crocs for hiking, you NEED to wear socks. I know they look stupid, but trust... every grain of sand/piece of dirt that gets inside those shoes WILL rub your skin raw. I made the mistake of buying crocs intended for water hiking... yeah not a good idea. There were holes in my skin from where the sand was. With that said.... get the last croc. It looks like a normal shoe.

Keen has a lot of nice options which are not made of plastic and, at least in my opinion, are more stylish. I have a couple pairs of shoes by them that I really like.

As a person who wears basically only sandals int he summer, I know what that's like. Basically I would wear the first one for real hiking, the second would be my casual sandal-type and then the third my normal shoe.

Some of these look like they might be what I'm looking for. Especially This One. I just need to gauge if my toes are going to bust out the side. It looks like the top will be okay...

I do like their water shoes, though.

Dr. BF calls them my old man shoes. On sale at Macy's for 25 bucks.

They do totally look like old man shoes, but I don't care. They're crazy comfortable and they were 25 bucks.

And they make my feet look giant. But that's because they are. So there.
