LOL, this is even richer than the original post, Google using browser technology to spider sites? I only wish that WTF accepted posts from forums. You do realize that would be the most inefficient way to crawl the web, actually rendering html for what purpose, to see what it looks like rendered in a browser? GoogleBot is probably nothing more than a plain old tcp session that makes a request captures http headers, content and follows links.

So you believe that just because it has "Mozilla" in the agent string its browser based? Wow. Maybe you should read http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Search_bot, again all a search bot does is request and capture, there are probably several "bots" that then parse and queue other links and such. Only the request of the resource from a web site is the only thing that is common between a modern browser and a search bot. Other than that they are probably nothing alike. Again why would it want to render a page?

the new google spider parses html and javascript, the old spider is so 1999 like tables for layout.

why? so it indexs what is on the page as seen by me and you not some keywords hidden by javascript or other cloaking.

So it's now implementing some kind of OCR to view the page as it's rendered like we see them? Do you actually think that the indexing bot is dumb enough not to know if block elements are either hidden or not via css or inline on its own?

And the new google bot parses much more than html and javascript, try most document formats including pdf, Flash and these files in common compressed formats (zip) as well as any file in human readable format via language pattern matches.

Just because you can't search for it does not mean Google isn't indexing it. The buzz in the dev pools is that they have been fooling around with indexing audio and video (audio in video) files via speech recognition. This research probably helped spawn Voice Local Search which is searching for businesses using your phone and your voice.

Anyway we are getting off the topic of this thread. I like the new site.
