Are you seriously asking, or are you just going to continue to be defensive about every single thing? For the most part, people just seem interested in helping you make the site attractive and functional.
My understanding (as someone who has worked in the software industry but is by no means a web professional) is that tables are outdated because they impose physical layout on HTML, which is a markup language. CSS works faster and is more reliable on a wider variety of resolutions, browsers and platforms. Does the site look OK on a Treo? How about an iPhone? How about something that isn't yet invented? The old site clearly had its issues (in particular, fostering the misconception that you need an iPod to listen), but it was graphically pleasing and nicely coded. This one, as has been stated, is very "generic template looking". From what I've seen, there are a number of people on here who (a) know a LOT about web design and implementation and (b) would be glad to help the show -- and, by association, you. You'd probably get a much better dialog going if you listened to what they had to say. |

Tables existed in HTML for one reason: To display tabular data.

Huh? Not really sure what you are saying but it would be rather strange to demand that KATG enforce something that is client side which they really shouldn't be careing about.
Michael, well everything you display to the browser would be client side code so no, no specific function. Just all around personal preference on how it is coded. Quote:
And woot for being the cool dude who does validated xhtml with a shittygraphics button from w3c while still sending it as html tag soup. Who care about the mime type as long as you get street cred from your cool web buddys? Shit works on current clients or they don't, regardless if they are cleanely coded or if it is thrown together from dreamweaver/frontpage/whatever. Making the website useable is always the primary goal, regardless of how shitty the code is, 99% of the uses won't care. Meh fuck this I'm to tired to even argue |

Forgive me if its been said, its late and i don't wanna read through the posts, but there's no obvious link for the chat off the new KATG site, does it not require a button? Just asking. I like the new design very much though.

There is in the listen live section but you're right it's not out there like other sections are. I'm worried about making a button for every little link in the navigation but i do think it should stand out more.
