I saw they've been playing that on BBC America, I've been meaning to check it out. Thanks for the reminder.

And I wish there was a way to Torrent the Channel 4 news. BBC is good too - I fucking hate the American news outlets.
keeping up appearences is the best comedy show on the planet, past, present, and very likely, future. i like it better than curb your enthuasium, arrested development, and my name is earl. it saddens me that the show didnt run for like 20 seasons like the simpsons.

i dont care for BBC news reports, theres as much if not more bias than any american news programs. why the fuck is there no straight news channel? cant the government like budget in an annual, steady, inflation adjusted grant or something for someone to start one? it could have stories that arent always designed to be sensational, it could not cater to a demographic, not concern itself with advertising...../sigh

It should be called the Mexican maid diet.

Keeping Up Apperances was good. I loved the Vicar and his wife.

Did they ever show the son Sheridan who always called for money?

I just brought all of the episodes of the original The Professionals from the late 1970's on DVD. Now I can sit back with a scotch and remember a time when all crime and terrorism could be sorted out by driving a Ford Capri dangerously, drinking like a fish, wearing polyester suits and shirts with collars the size of a house, having gun fights in the middle of London, and making sure that your perm is looking just right in order to please the ladies.

I'm not going to argue too much because I like it too, but........
They kept doing the same jokes over and over.
How many times did the she make the neighbor nervous drinking tea/coffee and break the china? Every single episode.
How many times did the dog start barking at her and she fell into the bushes. Every single episode.

Oh, and Patrice...
Sheridan was a great character, I always like how they referenced that he was gay from the one sided phone calls. But Hyacinth never "got" it and you'd always see Richard just shaking his head (not just over the money).
"Sheridan and his roommate Tarquin want to go to Iceland on holiday to write poetry together.", "Sheridan and his roommate aren't interested in girls yet, they are focusing on thier studies." etc. always a good laugh

Onslow was the my favorite character.

Keeping Up Appearances????

I'm surprised you guys like it - although it got big viewing figures, it's hardly regarded as an all-time classic over here.

I just found it annoying - the same jokes and situations repeated, it only ever raised the odd chuckle from me. Perhaps being British I missed things which would seem funny to an American.

The writer of that (and loads of other sit-coms), Roy Clarke, lives about 5 miles from here. I'll let him know that you guys are fans if I ever see him...

Vicar of Dibley was a funny show though.

i worked with someone that bought a Ford Capri second hand in 1995 ish, never laughed so much when he opened the bonnet (hood), there was a 977cc engine in there and some air...

Ford Capri's looked nice but were just an Ford Escort under the skin.

Ahh, the gutless cars of the 70's and 80's. I've never owned a Ford, mainly because the Japanese cards have tended to be cheaper here, but when I did some The Professionals inspired driving in my first Honda Accord it gave me good experience "embellishing the truth" for Insurance purposes after denting the driver's side fender.
