Rediscovered smells

Today when i was outside relaxing on my porch(no, i don't have any black heritage) i noticed an odd familiar smell. I thought " i have smelled that in ages". I was thinkin for 5 minutes b4 minute relized it was the combo of diet pepsi and cigarettes, n that all throughout years 3-9 of my life that all my extended family's house smelled like this.

So i was wondering if anyone else has gone through this phenomenaaa of rediscovering smells?

All smells from my grandma's house that I stop and remember each time I smell them

Everytime I smell wintergreen I think of Skoal. My dad does it and I hate the stuff!

diesel fumes - remind me of growing up on the farm, but it's a very particular sort of diesel smell. Not just shitting city buses, but that kinda sweet note that only comes through occasionally in the city and always on the farm.

gun powder - I rarely smell this outside of what it reminds me of, deer hunting. tramping around smelling the dead leaves, rotting wood, mud and sand... lots of bored pretending to be interested in the great outdoors and then holy shit followed by the smell of spent powder drifting out of the action of the shotgun...

Fresh cut hay
- I love that smell. It means summer days in Iowa that are somehow breezy, clear, muggy, arid and a chance of thunderstorms all at the same time.

Caraway seed - my Czech grandmother always had a generous hand with this wonderful flavor when cooking Christmas dinner of roast pork and dumplings

Jubilee Kitchen Wax. I think I smelled it on a garage sale table.

Oh yea! And Odo-Ban. My first job was working in a vet clinic and that's what we used to mop the floors with. Hits me like a ton of bricks.

Skunk reminds me of Haymarket.

Garbage reminds me of the Philippines.

Old Spice deoderant reminds me of my best friend Jon

Aarid deoderant reminds me of my friend Charlie.

Clove cigarettes remind me of an adult neighbor (female) that I used to hang out wit when I was 10.
