Victorian bushfires
For those who arent recieveing this news feed
Video - Herald Sun yesterdays winds and heat set off some of the worst fires ever in victoria, and because the wind was so hot the fire spread very fast. At the moment 65 people have been found dead, but many more people are unaccounted for. At least one town has been completly razed to the ground... this is worse the ash wednesday, the sydney fires and black friday... my thoughts go out to those who have lost homes, livelihood, friends, family, animals and their lives |
So devastating, you aren't in this area are you Aine?
|
no, my dad is, and my hometown is.. but im not.... just concern for the people who are.
The government has already pledged money to help people rebuild |
anyone who wishes to donate then donate here: https://www.redcross.org.au/Donation...eDonations.asp

The fires are big enough to be seen from space. Scary shit :(
|
I can't believe I didn't hear about any of this on the news today. =/
|
sky news is showing it... but otherwise america isnt recieving reports

Apparently efforts have been hampered by arsonists re-lighting fires after the fire crews have left. Fucking jerkoffs, personally I think people that start fires deliberately in these conditions are worse than child molesters. Guantanamo Bay is going to be empty soon can we send them there?
ANYWAY that's beside the point: Please donate to one of the many places that need it. Australian Red Cross Crews from NSW and SA have gone to assist Victorian crews and they may need help (remember most people fighting these fires are volunteers). In the next weeks or months there will also be a need of crockery, bedding, pet food etc. etc. etc. If you are from overseas and want to donate but can't (I don't if they accept OS monies) I'm sure any of the Aussies on here would be glad to help you figure something out. At a glance: where bushfires are burning - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation): Here is a guide to where the fires are burning. This is a good time to remind everyone no matter where you are to plan ahead for bushfires (or wildfires or whatever you call them). The South Australian CFS has good resources for bushfire planning. |
