I know I'm supposed to be shocked by the amount of food thrown away and people born into poverty and dying of starvation.
But...
I'm now just too distracted by the fact that the earth's surface gets hit with lightning 518,400 times every day. No shit? That doesn't sound like it can be real.

I actually decided to look this up and found a few different answers but many list lightning as closer to 100 times a second based on satellites.

From lightningsafety.com it shows the distribution of thunderstorms in some parts of Africa as over 200/365 days every year which likely are accounting for a lot of it:

What about there being 7,200 earthquakes a day? I know 99% of them are to small to be felt, but that's still kinda scary.
