It's this retarded debating that shows just how useless religion and/or faith really is.

You may not have seen the sign when you walked in here, but this thread is about religion. If you'd like to debate the existence or non-existence of God(s), I'm sure there's a thread out there and if there isn't, you can start one.

I found this on another site:

Quote:
All Christians -- ALL Christians -- are tempted to doubt the very underpinnings of their faith. I know that in weak moments when my reason is being given a little too much credit by me, Satan can find ways to make me doubt Christ Himself.
Satan as a scapegoat, anyone?

Thanks, I was just about to bring up the concept of Satan. All religions are clever enough to architect the opposition as the ultimate evil.

My question is, would 'god' present truth through the fickle voice of a select few, backed only by a straw man, faith; or, would 'god' present itself, to all, through the verifiable laws and theories of the natural sciences? How would 'satan' chose to present itself?

If one insists on relying on the concept of 'god', according to their own rules, it seems quite possible that followers have the two switched.

I'll agree, because all this endless discussion is not caused by a disagreement over the concept of god, but the concept of divinity.

It has long seemed more plausible to me that Satan would take on the persona of God through the Christian faith. I have put my reasoning to Christians, and none have, as of yet, even given me a response. I guess I'm tempting them with my reason.

Precisely, actually all major religions fit under this category. In my philosophy, 'satan' is unquestioning belief.

This is why I promote Thomas Paine's idea of Deism. He writes that reason is the greatest gift of God, that science is learning the magnificence of God, and that the world itself makes any text that purports to be The Word redundant.

I cannot possibly see how Christianity is equally as healthy and reasonable as that religion.
