Once upon.......a time......in.....Hollyweird seriously sucked ass. I got pretty high for it which usually increases my enjoyment and immersion into a story but even with that I was bored shitless. I didn't see it until recently bc dangling the real-life Manson murders as part of this sexy hip movie about the 60s felt really offputting to me. And turns out the way they handled it in the movie was dumb.

My favorite movie of the year by far is Midsommar. I loved it from beginning to end, it made me feel all sorts of shit and was really freaky and fun to boot. Even a month after seeing it I'm getting all tingly thinking about it. Probably my favorite movie since Mad Max Fury Road.

Scottish Mussel on Amazon Prime.

Won't be everybody's cup of tea but if you're in need of something sweet and charming, give it a go.

I watched Good Boys this weekend and it was good (all puns intended), solid B+. Definitely Superbad-esque. I saw it in a movie theater with recliners and alcoholic beverages so it got bonus points.

Also saw Good Boys
C+/B-
really liked it but wish it had come out before Booksmart. I couldn't help but compare the two: funny movie about kids in transitioning from one level of school to the next, adult humor, funny cliques, girls on drugs stealing every scene they're in, a pretty insightful plot about how friendships change over time, and for me Booksmart just did all the things better and funnier.

Still good on its own.

Ad Astra - C-/D+

What a weird setting to make a movie about a boring man with unaddressed anger issues because of his emotionally and physically distant father. It was one of those movies that felt like it started in the middle and not because of the advanced technology that; we're already supposed to car about how Brad Pitt NEVER gets excited or worried in life without seeing good examples of it, we're already supposed to care about how WONDERFUL his dad was without seeing how what he did was good for anyone, and we won't really because the plot is about going to Neptune an fixing weird space rays not building a backstory.

I kept waiting for something to happen but 90% of this movie is Brad not showing emotion while narrating about how sad he really is. The first time we have emotion its from a woman costumed in all black (compared to his all white) in a room with a doll house and then she leaves the plot. Brad shoulda just gone to Al-anon instead of space to deal with his daddy issues

This movie is the antithesis to Gravity. Gravity had Sandra going through impossible physical strain to get home and the whole movie is sold on her emoting. This is about Brad refusing to emote and doing boring ass space junk
