The Nightingale
Lots happens in The Nightingale butI like the story between Billy & Clare.
“Billy” an Australian First Nations fails to understand Clare is Irish not English with a language and country colonised by the English, Clare can only see “Billy” as black and therefore savage despite being subject to the exact same brutal treatment. I really like the way this was presented in the film and I’ve always wanted to go travel round Australia & Tasmania |

Loved Billy. Was not at all expecting the violence in the beginning. Thought it would be more of an actiony tale of revenge and less a tale of people who are suffering finding each other. Enjoyed it tho |

I might have liked that better. Maybe less traveling footage and more fighting.
It was almost depressing but had just enough pathos and release near the end. |

Z------ I watched about 1/4 of this bucket of absolutely stale urine before turning it off. I would have turned it off as soon as I saw Justin Long was in it but I was told to give it a chance. If the bonkers-level sound effects don't get you to turn it off, the ridiculous over use of CGI will. White Girl watches White Woman take out her denchers, from a good 300 ft away, and the sound of squishing goo is so loud you'd think someone was fisting a vat full of mayonnaise . I actually turned it off when the second witch tells White Girl, "You used to be a fat little piglet, huh?" and that unbalanced her as much as being punched in the mouth by the wind in a previous scene. Switched to this and had a much better time. actually scary. Love me some Karen Gillian even if her hair was insane

Saw a great Korean movie this weekend called The Handmaiden. Beautiful movie about people trying to scam each other, set in a time when Korea was occupied by Japan. It's like Parasite if you replace the existential dread with gratuitous lesbian scenes, and how can that not be an upgrade. From the director of Oldboy, it's over 2 hours but justifies its length with a crazy second act. Loved every second of this one. 9.5/10

I put this movie on late one night with my friend and his dad, thinking it was a korean horror movie that came out around the same time. An hour later, after the 10th straight minute of cunnilingus the dad, who had been adjusting crotch said "Ya know, this isn't very scary. Time for bed!"

Occulus was great - I'm curious about whether you'd like Mike Flanagan's debut movie Absentia - on Prime, here. One of those slow burn movies Keith would hate, but I loved it.
