The quote should have been "Elton John is a motherfuck!" Hahaha! I don't see him as being a prick like Simon. More like how Chemda was saying that he just wouldn't let bad music through. I mean, he can't be too "old school" like Patrice was saying because he sang with Eminem for the Stan performance at the Grammy's right? If he was "old school" assumably he'd think rap was shit. Then again whoever wrote in about the DVD where he apparently acts like a prima donna.

PS - Tila Tequila is probably one of the worst people in the world from what I've been reading about her on the Superficial/hearing from KATG.

A friend of mine was (still is) in Haiti. He got Internet at the airport and he got in touch with us via facebook so that people could spread the word that he's ok.

His hotel room collapsed over him, he still had time to collect some of his belongings and escaped, and I quote, "through a hole in the wall". I'm yet to know how he got to the airport but I can only imagine the disaster movie scenario. As far as we know, in his hotel 200 people died and 100 survived. I guess we'll find that's true for all buildings in Haiti... 1/3 dead.

He was able to take his camera along and we discussed taking pictures. He said he couldn't take pictures of suffering people and that the scenario was very, very grim. My first thought is of how decent of him that is, since he's there, with a camera and a lot of people would think of capitalizing that. That whole point Chemda made that if you shoot a hand coming out of the building you're not helping the person attached to that hand... made me think of how sweet my friend was to not take pictures of the people.

I'm curious to see if Keith likes Avatar. His thinking on Paranormal Activity is that it would be terrible because people kept mentioning how little it cost to make. Avatar cost a buhbillion to make so maybe it will be glorious.

The photography comments reminded me immediately of this famous photo:
Phan Thị Kim Phúc - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The photographer won the Pulitzer Prize for it, and the photo has become an iconic image of the horrors of war and what it does to innocent civilians. Immediately after taking it the photographer took the children to the hospital. The little girl is still alive today, married and living in Canada.

I can understand the feeling that these photographers must be callous bastards to snap their shots like this, but the documentation they provide is important. It's more than just art. We can easily picture a lot of these famous images in our minds because they become a part of history. Imagine if there'd been no photographer around to take the photo of the American flag being raised at Iwo Jima, for example.
