I yelled at a man on my flight back to Australia this morning.

There was a baby in the row in front of us that was crying, really really loud. Obviously that is the last thing you want on a long haul, red-eye flight. This man thought the most appropriate and helpful course of action was to intermittently say and yell loudly things like "Shut that fucking kid up", "Jesus Christ, get control of that thing" etc etc. Which makes total sense because a freaked out crying little kid definitely will calm down more when being yelled at by an old strange dude.

A couple of times his wife (or the woman he was travelling with) tried to shush him and calm him down but his response to that was to tell HER to shut the fuck up and that he will do what he wants.

After a while I'd just had enough, and said loudly, "Ohmygod, your behaviour right now is so much more childish than that actual child. Settle down and shut up."

The comeback he had for me was "Go bite your bum, lady." But it shut him up. Perhaps the spirit of Little Baby Faggot was within me at the time.

On the Czech monument, I don't speak the language, but if it is read out loud it sounds very much like Russian. The words to me mean:

I voted "yes" even though it is not on public transport, I routinely call people out for bad behavior (parking in handicap, littering, dangerous driving, smoking, etc.) I usually get the blank fish face because they are so surprised that a foreigner knocks on their window or walks up to them and starts berating them in Japanese. They probably get their voice back 5 minutes after I'm gone. My wife is convinced I will get killed one day.
