there's no arguing the validity of fundamental positions, but my attitude's always been one where once you reach the point where the internet takes on a life of its own and elevates above 'internet stuff' status, it's time to take two steps back from it and reassess your priorities.
take april 15th for instance. drunken shenanigans on the night of keith's stand-up aside, for as cool and friendly and interesting as all (well.. most. kidding!) the people i met were, there wasn't a moment during that handful of hang outs that i felt even remotely within my element. which isn't meant to imply that, say, i run in a social circle with a thousand people in it, or that i look down my nose at people who frequent the internet-based socialization scene, but in the 13 years i've been online, i've never experienced any sort of net drama due in no small part to my efforts to keep This Life and That Life seperate.
