No, the world has not been cruel to me. Until recently I taught a class on global poverty. Reading about, and teaching about, what goes on in the world is sad and disheartening.
And I think I am the opposite of immune, which is kind of my point. There is just so much awful shit going on in the world, I'm not sure this is the worst of it. The needless deaths of thousands of people everyday weighs heavily on my conscience.
