Norway doesn't have much metal output these days, it seems. Finland and Sweden are doing all the work. I'm guessing if you're talking about Dimmu and the Norwegian scene, you could probably use some pointers.

Apart from the aforementioned black metal bands, other notables include: The Abyss, Angantyr, Nargaroth, Satanic Warmaster, Horna, Behexen, Sacramentum, and Wolves in the Throne Room. Or, at least, those would be ones I would recommend. Given the nature of the scene, everyone will have their own underground picks.

If you appreciate the theatrics of more recent Dimmu Borgir, I would suggest Tvangeste's Firestorm, Twilight Ophera's The End of Halcyon Age, and Sear Bliss's Glory and Perdition. If you are willing to try the folk side of overblown theatrics, there's Moonsorrow, Wintersun, Turisas, and Equilibrium.
