An alternative revenue model is subscription - which would be very easy to implement in iTunes. You pay, say, 10 cents per episode rather than get them free. This would preserve integrity as the podcaster's only obligation would be to the paying audience.

I don't like subscription models. It creates pissy listeners. As soon as people "sign up" for a service their attitude changes. Right now if K&TG miss a day because they have other stuff to do then it's not a big deal. As soon as people start paying it turns into ... "Where's my show? I pay you for a service I WANT IT NOW!" So in order to stop that sort of crap K&TG are forced into putting out a show every day which makes the feel of the show change from a fun hour to a business deal. This is especially true if the subscription base revenues are not enough to live on. Then you ae obligated to perform a service that doesn't justify losing other work for.

A pay as you listen would be a better idea but harder to implement outside iTunes.

Simple solution is don't be an ass. Donate some monies if you are regular listener. 3 clicks on Paypal and your done. I don't want to see that annoying bearded guy from Christian Children's fund in front of Keith and Chemda's place saying "for 80 cents a day wouldn't you want to put a smile back on these two podcasting clowns ..." because nobody can be bothered to click a few links.
