If possible, your first views of the Eiffel Tower MUST be from the Trocadero metro stop. A photographer told me this a few years ago before I went and he was absolutely right. If in anyway have the ability to do it this way, DO IT.

What someone said above about going to the top of the Arc de Triomphe is also a great idea. Some of the best views there. Going up the Eiffel Tower is cliche but amazing as stated.

I found the Musee d'Orsay much more interesting than stuff in the Louvre, but enjoyed both.

Paris is probably up there as my favorite city in the world. If only they'd get rid of the American-hating people in the city, I'd want to live there.
