In American Football, the clock stops for an injured player, a time out, replays, the clock isn't running until a play starts, etc. etc.

In Soccer, the clock never stops. Until the end of each half, and all the time that, say if it were Football, it would've gets added on to the end.

I like it this way, because the momentum of the game doesn't get disturbed.
The two sports are different, so a direct comparison may be unfair...but that's how it was explained to me when at first I was like "wtf?"
