Yeah, that's a pretty chill area, it was extremely trendy to live there a few years back. Now there's a Gelson's up the street, which is cool, and I think the park still has a farmers market every week. There's a few good restaurants within walking distance, and a million more a short drive away. Also, it's freeway adjacent.
I recommend that as soon as you can, you pop over to Lake for Pie and Burger (
Pie 'n Burger - Pasadena - Pasadena, CA). The yelp crowd doesn't think it's anything special, and it sure doesn't look like much, but any Pasadena local will tell you it's a neighborhood staple.
Honestly, I recommended South Pas because of the commute, and because of the slightly cooler weather, but I grew up in Pasadena, and I happen to think it's the best damn city on the entire planet. The only thing wrong with it is that it's so far from the beach. Almost anything you need, you can get in Pasadena high-end, low-end, industrial, natural, mainstream or obscure. It's awesome.
So... when are you coming to a so-cal meet up?
