Show me evidence that Americans are smart shoppers, in any respect. Show me evidence that people are not completely ignorant to the facts about the power of the computers they buy. Show me evidence that Mac made it's money by being better than it's competitors. Show me evidence that Mac's sales are due to quality of their technology, and not just their namesake.
The first thing you asked me to show proof of cannot be proven because it's relative to each individual how important an issue is, and if it's enough to make them want to switch technologies. The second can't be proven, and neither can the adverse.
