I ended up going through Priceline's "Name Your Own Price" thing (although I did it a month too early, to be honest), and got the Holiday Inn in Long Island City, one block from the subway, for $120/night, as opposed to the site's rate of $180. I've bought rooms through Hotwire before and always found Priceline to be a better deal.
