Instead of keeping old shows, I use Audio Hijack to snag clips from episodes I find to be particularly hilarious so I can (and do) listen to them again. Two of these clips have already been turned into animations, and a third is in the works.
I've been listening since about August 2008 (right after the first big marathon) and I only have 184 clips, so I think my system works.
