It's a totally different type of pain, Campy. Breast binding is painful when it's done, continues to hurt while they're bound and becomes screaming agony when they're released and the blood flow returns. Whereas whips hurt when they hit, but the pain of each strike fades (and then you're hit again … rinse & repeat).
I've never had my breasts bound tightly enough for them to go purple, not so much because of the pain, but more because it crosses my brave/stupid line - which is, of course, completely arbitrary and constantly changing. Basically, things I'm happy to do are 'brave' and things I'm not prepared to do are 'stupid' hahaha. (oh … also because it looks ridiculous
) I always hesitate to say stuff like that though, because once an idea is in my head it doesn't seem to take long at all for it to become a 'good' idea (leeches anyone?), so … I guess I'll be getting my breasts bound next year …
Gags, on the other hand can be dead sexy, especially if they're the type that make swallowing difficult, like ring gags. ahh …. drool
As for the scared look - well, that's pretty much what it's all about for me - the fear. I love the build up that starts days before a scene, the random messages that don't say much but make my heart start to pound, the whispers, the reminders and the smiles. If I have evening 'plans' I'm pretty much a mess by 5pm. I have to force myself to eat and tell myself I am NOT going to throw up. I'm acutely aware of my heart racing, my increased temperature and I start to totally freak out. It's what I call my 'quietly hysterical' stage. I can act perfectly normally, but on the inside I'm in absolute turmoil. For me, a large part of my masochism is beating that turmoil, standing up to the 'fight or flight' response and doing something I am sincerely afraid of.
Plus I love the marks and scars …
