That's silly. It's made up. The person is saying "It seemed to" because they don't know, because the show never said. Of course it seems to be a term of endearment because his brother loved him.
If he was called Elephant you would still say that it seems to be a term of endearment.
And why'd he have to tame a bear in his dreams? Did it SEEM to mean he has demons?
