Kim Porter died in 2018 and this “memoir” was self-published on Amazon from someone who didn’t know her personally. He goes by Chris Todd sometimes, real name Todd Christopher Guzze (with a pen name Jamal T Millwood) who as far as I can tell is some white dude who calls himself an investigator (and also sometimes an actor/writer/director…) who has been self publishing Hollywood scandals for a long time. I just watched an interview with him and sounds like he’s angling to make it into a movie. As he recounts, he received a flash drive containing a book compiled of excerpts from Kim Porter’s diary and other comments/writing from people close to her, but he cannot verify any sources. The cover of the book makes it clear Kim Porter is not the author.
I dunno man, to me it’s not helpful to the victims in this situation (or any sexual assault survivors) to speak on their behalf without verifying that they actually said those words or without knowing if they wanted to make it public in the first place.
At this point I don’t think most people need more convincing that P Diddy has done a lot of egregious shit… of course I could easily believe the quotes from this “memoir”, but specificity, context, and sources are important so it can be taken as seriously as it is. And to me, that’s the best way to center and respect the people who actually lived through this shit.
