86: Take Your Pills, Psychopath! Episode 2: JFOD Graduates From Mental Health Court
It turns out that John F. O'Donnell has quite the backlog of his own personal insanity to explore. He has, after all, been dealing with a diagnosis of Bipolar 1 Disorder for close to 20 years. This time around he talks about his recent graduation from Mental Health Community Court in Washington, DC (Yes, that's a thing), how to overcome the shame of living with mental illness, and even more songs he thought were written about him.

I wonder if part of what bothers JFOd about people teasing him is because his brain has tricked him so often that he isn’t sure sometimes what the intention is-even though deep down he knows they are doing it in loving jest as comedians do. I can understand the frustration with people not understanding the amount of mental work it takes just to function like a normal person. I deal with this when my depression is especially bad, and it is frustrating when people say-just force yourself, get up and do something you’ll feel better. Yeah I know that but y’all don’t understand the physical and mental toll all of this is taking on me. It would be so much easier if I could just push my way through it.
Even though he is still a little over all over the place I’m enjoying this. I love Andrea and Jfods dynamic. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I know this comment is a little old, but I wanted to say something about your graduation from the mental health court. This is a major accomplishment and you are to be commended. The program may have felt easy to you now that you are back to level with medications, but it would down rite impossible under other circumstances. I have worked with drug court and re-entry court programs for years and I can say they are a lot of extra effort. That is why the pay-off is so valuable. Pulse the community is served because we are not wasting law enforcement and prison resources on a person with a mental health problem.
Basically, don’t sell yourself short. You did something great, congratulations!
