Gotta admit, I've never understood gangsta rap. Sounds produced by a bunch of musically illiterate people who seems to think that smacking their bitches up has some kind of artistic merit.
Fuck that shit. |

Straight outa Compton is horrible. It was just a brand new thing for a lot of people. It inspired people and largely contributed to a huge culture and led to the mainstream success that rap has now achieved. It's a little bit like dawn and drew.
Edit: I really liked my analogy when I thought of it but although the talent level is similar, that's way too much credit for d&d. Last edited by Eric M; 08-11-2015 at 07:51 AM. |

Did it ever come up what an awkward moment it was when Pat asked Christian whether he thought if Pat was a sexual predator? Cuz it sounded hella awkward to listen to

I recently re-listened to some of the rap music from years ago and the lyrics were amazing compared than what is considered to be rap today. It was raw and gritty. They rapped about things they did the night before, like shooting and murdering (I'm with you, Keith. Arrest them).
I mean, listen to this. Tupac vs. Biggie https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=41qC3w3UUkU If you want to hear insanely fast rapping, listen to 90s Busta Rhymes. If we're comparing hip-hop artists like Drake who rap once in a while with Eminem and Tupac, there's no comparison. That's what is mainstream now, unfortunately. |

Maybe Keith is having a hard time recognizing the brilliance that is Straight Outta Compton because it is just too long for him. We all know how short his attention span can be sometimes...
Try listening to this version, equally brilliant but much more succinct... EXPLICIT CONTENT ONLY |

Agree about NWA. I was listening to stuff like Run DMC before them and when NWA came out it made that sound very simple and nursery rhymey. Now NWA sounds very simple to me and I pretty much only enjoy the 3 big songs off it. It sounds like what it is to me now - a bunch of teenagers talking tough and writing high school level rhymes. All the swearing surely helped it appeal to teenagers.

Whenever we go out to dinner in a group we always end up with enough money left over for a good tip even though we don't have to here. People usually evenly split the bill and round up their share, because it would be embarrassing to be caught out underpaying and we have shame.
