I know this ep is old as shit now, but I'm just catching up on all the new shows today. As a scientist, Chemda's stance was infuriating. Going through life as male-bodied all the way through puberty and beyond before going on hormone replacement means you will be much different than someone female-bodied throughout their life. Hormones aren't magic juice that change everything physical about you; they can only do so much.
And the whole argument that Keith and Danny might be different in some ways, so anyone should be able to fight anyone is FUCKING SILLY. OK--let's have one big coed MMA league where it's just weight classes, since the genetically unluckiest guy might have bones weaker than the genetically luckiest lady. WHO'S TO SAY if the guy weighing 180 with a 22-2 record (against men) has a similar muscle mass, bone density, and upper body development as the 180 lb woman that is 22-2 (against women)... Chemda acts like the division of sex is completely arbitrary, but it's actually the best way to divide athletic groups. Just look at the Olympic records for, like, everything. Hormone therapy after puberty would not turn FloJo into Usain Bolt. |
