Here in Namibia every winter is freaking wildfires and smoke… and a good amount of it is coming down from up north in the rest of Africa (which is huuuuge, maaan). We have winter now… it’s starting and it sucks. Breathing is hard.

A group of South African fire fighters just arrived in Edmonton, Alberta to work on the fires out West. They have been here before, back in 2016 IIRC.

When I first moved to San Diego around 2003 those giant (Cedar?) wildfires started and my stupid ass woke up to the orange sky and raining ash thinking “oh… is this the Santa Ana winds I’ve heard of?” I thought it was desert sand blowing across states and raining down in San Diego. It’s so surreal and end of the worldy.

Not a singer, probably the opposite if there is such a thing, but I've thought about doing that karaoke room by myself a few times just to see if I'm missing out by never wanting to do it in a regular space in front of people. But it's always seemed like such an pointless extravagance. If I was actually a singer I'd think this would be a usual thing. Like a batting cage or a flight simulator.

I was the foreperson on a rape case in Baltimore one time. It was really awful. And not the sitting there watching a rapist get defended, it's listening to other jurors when it's over. I'd love a lottery case.
