my Mom was afraid of the dentist so she made it her business that my Brother and i wouldn’t be. twice a year every year we went to the same dentist from the moment teeth erupted from our jaw flesh. you get to miss half a day of school. Highlights magazine fucking rules. big toy mouths with removable teeth are grotesquely delightful. at our office, we always left with a balloon! did i have a fair number of cavities from non-fluoridated well water and steady consumption of Kool-Aid? yes. but that numb, spongy face feeling after getting one filled was pretty interesting.

I don't find it pleasant but I pay for dental insurance so I'm gonna get my money's worth.

I find the dentist relaxing. It’s on par with getting my hair done, massage, mani/pedi. I recently got my eyebrows done and that was slightly uncomfortable, but still somehow relaxing. There’s something about someone working on me. I think like the attentions. I’m absentminded about coordinating all these things into my life, but once I get in there, I’m a happy camper during and after.
