We watched one episode of the bear and it gave me the same feeling as work when it is very stressful. I dont need that. I can as well work more.
And my work gives me money. That's a plus. |

It's symbolism. I know, put on your thinking cap, but the more we learn about how his family is all fucked up, him fighting the bear, aka how his family knows him, is a metaphor for growing up and out of the roles we were assigned from our family and the toxic traditions and forging our own identities. Identities independent of what your family dumped on you. That should resonate a little, maybe?

Googled it and Shoebootie is correct.
The meaning of The Bear In season 1, it is revealed that Carmy's late brother, Michael (Jon Bernthal), had nicknamed him Bear. It seemed to simply be a term of endearment and affection that also represented Carmy's endurance and strength as he took off to build a life for himself in New York. I guess I must've been folding clothes or something. Totally missed this. |

"It seemed to simply be a term of endearment and affection ... "
That's silly. It's made up. The person is saying "It seemed to" because they don't know, because the show never said. Of course it seems to be a term of endearment because his brother loved him. If he was called Elephant you would still say that it seems to be a term of endearment. And why'd he have to tame a bear in his dreams? Did it SEEM to mean he has demons? This world I tell ya ... |

No, I didn't like it at first. As I've said, I got it for my son. I started playing it a day or so after I first got it to see if it would entice my son into playing. After about an hour I had come to the conclusion that he wasn't interested but I wanted to keep playing. I've played a bit more but I don't see myself putting more hours in, unless I think I can get my son to try it.
I don't take back anything I've said, it has an addictive property to it, a level of satisfaction with completing the task and getting upgrades, and stuff like that. But I'd rather play something else. |
