Man, I'm turning into strafer with all my posts. When Crank came out I was doing projection at a movie theater and I watched it all the way through four days in a row, which was highly unusual, 'cause movies couldn't mean less when you're threading up 16 of them a day. Then when I learned about all these motorcycle video techniques that they used to make it, it clicked with me. I knew I loved it but I didn't know why, and learning how they were pushing the production envelope explained a lot. I knew there was a reason that movie woke me up and gave me a big grin, but I didn't know what it was. But I agree that without being good it wouldn't have worked, and I think they got kinda lucky there. It really seems like the script was a rush job, but maybe the style of filming they wanted to do helped craft the script into something entertaining, since they were railroaded into not losing focus by the nature of the movie.
