EHhhhhhh not so good live.

They were kind of dusche bags on stage and they sounded sloppy.
For some reason that doesn't really surprise me.

Ok, so my question is this;

I have enough money on my iTunes account to get one cd, is the new Cradle of Filth album worth it? I'm not a CoF fan but their new song is really growing on me.

I listened to all the black metal suggestions and i don't think black metal is my "cup of tea"... so to speak. Apparently CoF aren't black metal though which is news to me.

I would say it was but I think I might be biased cause I am a fan. In regards to them being "Black Metal" well, I am not sure that they are anymore. The previews of the songs are there and you will hopefully can get a feel of the songs from that and the vibe and all that but I think if you want "true" Black Metal - COF isn't probably the way forward.

I am seeing COF on Monday night and I can't fucking wait - sorry, I needed to say it! :-)

I might give it a go then. I listened to a few true black metal bands and came to the conclusion that black metal isn't for me. I'm basically just trying to find another Black Dahlia Murder style band because i'm starting to grow tired of listening to their Nocturnal album... it's fantastic, but it's been on repeat for almost a month.

Yes, I still need to hear more of their stuff.

The new COF is a fast metal album. If you like fast metal with some orchestral bits with a story - this album is for you! :-)

I like fast metal so that's a plus but i think i'll have to tackle the orchestral bits with an open mind. I've only heard bands like Nightwish and other various female/male vocalist fronted bands use orchestral backing and it gets grating after a while.

However, those bands a grating to begin with.

Well, I think I like it cause I am Nightwish mad at the moment and been listening to them loads lately. I used to listen to Death Metal and all that when I was younger so I think as I have gotten older, I have been trying to find more to my metal if you know what I mean. Different strokes, different strokes I suppose.

Fair enough. I went hunting through the "Artists Similar To..." page of Last.fm (i think it was that site) but none of the bands i download were even remotely similar... good but not similar. Death growls for 30mins straight gets a little exhausting too.

Anything can get too much when you listen to it enough I suppose. Good that there are all these ridiculous sub genres to bounce back and forth on! :-)

True, a band does one minor thing different and all of a sudden a new genre is started. I blame all the bands that copied Killswitch Engage, however it's my favourite genre so i won't bitch too loudly
