Black metal
Death metal Folk metal Power metal Thrash metal Doom metal Post-metal Sludge metal Symphonic metal Viking metal There are a handful of metalcore bands that don't sound like the same diluted ripoff, but they aren't the ones making the money. |

Metalcore. Metalcore started with Killswitch, which became big, then people ripped it off. now there is a back lash against Metalcore but it's musical influence on metal will be around for ever. Also your List of non-tired Genres looks more like a list of European metal genres to me. Last edited by Rock 'n' Rye; 12-02-2008 at 03:30 PM. |

This is what happens when stupid labels are created for every nuance that each metal band exudes. Then if and when that band doesn't fit into their fan/media assigned label, be it sludge metal or power metal, they're crucified for it.
I couldn't tell you what type of metal I like because I can't keep up with these fuckin categories. I love metal - that's the only category that's necessary for me. Unless its uber-classical-prog-metal-choirs, that needs its own category for sure. |

But yes, I like Europe's scene. I do not like America's. The only good non-80's American band I can think of right now is Wolves in the Throne Room. |
