However, those bands a grating to begin with.
Here's a nice fast one for yeah serial from one of my fave metalcore bands.

I really don't understand how such a tired, bland genre is so big.

What do you classify as a non-tired genre?

Black metal
Death metal
Folk metal
Power metal
Thrash metal
Doom metal
Post-metal
Sludge metal
Symphonic metal
Viking metal

There are a handful of metalcore bands that don't sound like the same diluted ripoff, but they aren't the ones making the money.

It's the natural patern of Metal, Someone mixes something new and it gains a main stream audience, then it losses it's soul and metal is never the same, no matter how hard people try. Happend with hair metal, Nu metal and now with
Metalcore.

Metalcore started with Killswitch, which became big, then people ripped it off. now there is a back lash against Metalcore but it's musical influence on metal will be around for ever.

Also your List of non-tired Genres looks more like a list of European metal genres to me.

This is what happens when stupid labels are created for every nuance that each metal band exudes. Then if and when that band doesn't fit into their fan/media assigned label, be it sludge metal or power metal, they're crucified for it.

I couldn't tell you what type of metal I like because I can't keep up with these fuckin categories.

I love metal - that's the only category that's necessary for me. Unless its uber-classical-prog-metal-choirs, that needs its own category for sure.

I hated Killswitch when they were the only one in the game too.

But yes, I like Europe's scene. I do not like America's. The only good non-80's American band I can think of right now is Wolves in the Throne Room.

Really? I assume you're talking about in stores. They've blown the hell up since when they first hit the scene. Diadem of 12 Stars was only available by ordering from Vendlus's online store, and when Two Hunters came out I was kind of surprised to see it on like Amazon and shit right away. I think I may have even seen a copy in Best Buy or FYE.

Oh, another good American band is Epicurean.

For that you shall be tortured for eternity. Killswitch saved us from a very dismal time in metal when all bands were only Korn rip offs and nu metal retardation. Alive Or Just Breathing was a ground breaking album whether you like it or not.

I don't have a KsE tattoo on my wrist for nothing.
