I'm still partial to Metallica's "...And Justice For All" myself. I love Met's first 3 albums as well, but there's just something about AJFA that I fucking love (yes, even with the disturbing lack of bass).

As far as i'm concerned (besides a few songs) ...And Justice For All is easily Metallica greatest album. Everything before it and after it is so so.

Pete Tagtren will be mixing the new Overkill in august (That could be good or very bad. He's very hit or miss as a producer). It should be out by the end of 2009. I'm curious, they're a good band but they were getting a bit rusty lately, even onstage.

The new Anthrax album will be tough to swallow. The more i hear i hear the new singer, the less i like him.

Late '80s? Rust in Peace, better album than anything Metallica put out, 1990. Incidentally, Metallica was putting out the Black Album at that time, and hasn't done jackshit since. Youthanasia, The World Needs a Hero, The System Has Failed, and United Abominations are all pretty good albums, and have all been released after Metallica's good era.

He's not on top of the game anymore, but my point is he is better than Hammet and Hetfield at every step. Hell, even Cryptic Writings, Risk, and Countdown to Extinction are better than what was coming out from those two jerkoffs at the same time.

Whatever. Tagtgren is a genius producer. He practically created Amon Amarth's trademark guitar sound, which is very similar to Hypocrisy's classics, and he's got a fuckton of excellent sounding albums under his belt.

I didn't say he isn't a good producer, i said that sometimes his trademark sound doesn't suit some of the bands he mixes. He has an approach that i don't think will work with Overkill. It's like Andy Sneap, Devin Townsend (as a producer) Rosso Robinson. They have a peculiar sound which sometimes doesn't fit the band. Personally, i think that thrash metal and euro death metal should have different sounds. But many bands from the Gotheborg movement sound virtually the same.

Concerning Megadeth: don't get me wrong, i love Rust In Peace (It's one of the basic albums to explain the techno thrash movement) and i think that Youthanasia is a great mainstream metal album (Much better than the black album ny youknowwho). But their latest efforts (i'll ignore cryptic writings) are metal by numbers. They have the riffs but no soul, same problem with Metallica's Death Magnetic. And Megadeth at their top are ten times better than metallica. But Mustaine ego fucks everything up, really.

True enough, but I have a feeling him making the guitars at least sound kickass is the most I'm going to get out of a new Overkill. Bloodletting was good, but Killbox 13 was boring, and ReliXIV flat out sucked, and I've written them off since.

I agree that Dave fucks things up a ot, and he can't seem to put together a truly great album anymore, but I enjoy a lot of their recent work.
