He isn't, someone corrected me earlier, it was the singer from norther that joined ensiferum, and as for him spoiling them I was a bit harsh, Iron is a pretty decent album.

As for generic death metal I agree, it takes alot to stand out and be a good band in that genre.

I like to think of you as a boy band fan that loves the Backstreet Boys but will flame anyone out for liking Nsync.
Hey cocksucker: you don't get to call someone closed minded because what they like doesn't happen to be what you like. How many bands have I mentioned, and you're like "Well I don't like that genre." Really? How many fucking subgenres of metal are you allowed to not like, but I can't have my one? You're really hypocritical.

Plus, open-minded? Why do you want to pretend that I don't give metalcore a chance? Really? I'm not allowed to not like a subgenre that is so influenced by an entire other genre it takes on half its name? I can name a shitload of bands you have no idea about, so I obviously have a passion for the genre, but for some reason I'm prejudiced against metalcore? What's more, there are good metalcore bands. You obviously have a lot of trouble comprehending things if you think I'm saying the whole genre's crap. And I believe I've stated this before. What I'm saying is that 1) most metalcore bands are better known than their talent warrants, 2) the genre has very little variety (this you cannot deny), and 3) I have a problem with people who are too specifically metalcore. You have a very specific type of metal you listen to, serial, and you do not budge out of it. I have shit that varies from vehement, blasting black metal, to traditional/thrash metal, from chugging death metal to keyboard heavy power metal, from symphonic black metal to flute filled Christian folk metal. Obviously I have a wide range, but all I see from you and your kind is the super fucking macho down-tuned chugging, and that's it.

So what's more open-minded here? Sludge isn't my thing, and yet I judge it fairly.

Post-metal isn't my thing, and yet I judge it fairly.

Metalcore isn't my thing, and yet I judge it fairly.

Let's take a tally, serial, of how many subgenres each of us likes, and then let's see who likes more of metal as a whole. You want to keep stressing metal as a whole? Fine then. Why the fuck are you pushing one specific piece, and not the whole?

Dude, most of the bands you mention that I shit on aren't hurt by me saying anything against them. Everyone already knows all the shit you listen to. You're years behind.

The bands that get hurt are the obscure ones that have a lot of talent but are ignored by people who just want chugging and yelling and bravado and that's fucking it.

Also, I don't care if you push your opinions, and you shouldn't care if I push mine. I was obviously taking a shot at you, not telling you to shut up. If I wanted that to happen, I would have said nothing.

No, they're not. The last word from King is that he hopes there will be a new Mercyful Fate album at some point, but there's something going on with rights or something that has to be finished up first. He's not doing anything right now but dealing with the live DVDs for both bands and remastering some King Diamond albums. They're going to start writing for King Diamond sometime this year, but they haven't even gotten to that yet.

I wouldn't expect much from him for awhile, he's still laid up by his back problem and said there's a 90% chance he'll be able to even tour in 2010.

"Hank [Shermann, guitar] has written songs [for the proposed Mercyful Fate CD]. And he is ready for our new masterpiece," King Diamond is quoted as saying.

I remember reading some other stuff, probably won't be out anytime soon but it sounds like its in the works.

So what metal albums are everyone looking forward to? Seems like lately there is a lack of good albums. I'm waiting on "Time" from wintersun so far its been 3 years, 6 months, 18 minutes, 16 hours, 32 minutes and 35 second... give or take.

King Diamond refuted the news article you're quoting, saying half the article was false. That article was published in January, the same time he posted this on his official forums:

Both Hank and I are ready to go if that scenario presents itself, and who knows, that might happen this year.
So..... for this year, you will see a double DVD of old private King Diamond video recordings and a double DVD of old private Mercyful Fate video recordings which I am working on as we speak. Andy has finished remastering "The Graveyard", "Spider's Lullabye", "Voodoo", and "House of God", all of which should also be available this year. And then there is "the big surprise" (not little King babies with horns on their foreheads or Mercyful Fate writing new songs, at least not as we speak) but something that could lead to renegotiations of the Mercyful Fate recording deals. We'll see. Be patient.....
Mercyful Fate is still on ice. As you can see, he is hoping that the recent release of two Mercyful Fate songs with Guitar Hero: Metallica will cause something to allow them to begin writing, but, as of right now, nothing new is happening with Mercyful Fate.

Well that sucks, more waiting I guess.

Yawn dude, you have a talent of saying a lot without really saying anything at all.

Yep, i'm years behind. Fuck me for listening to weekly metal radio shows, googling new bands, supporting the local metal scene and pre-ordering music from the bands i like. I guess paying for music yet to be release classifes me as being behind the times.

I'm a hypocrite? Fuck you dude, if you were half as open minded as you claim to be we wouldn't be having this discussion. And you claiming that you judge things fairly is bullshit, you've done nothing but shit on "metalcore" and other such genres across more threads than just this one.... that's hardly judging it fairly. If you're being serious than you're a fucking liar.

Seriously? How many fucking times have i said it's ALL metal. Yes, i'll agree that i'm particularly passionate about one or two sub-genres but it's all under the guise of metal and i like A LOT more bands than the ones i tote about on here. I wasn't aware i had to protest my love of every single band i like in order to please you. If i did, we'd be here for days and i have many more things i'd rather be doing.

See? You completely dodge my challenge, my proof, my logic, and my charges.

I haven't said anything about how devoted you are to the music you like, and defending that proves nothing. I have no doubt that you like metalcore, and that you're passingly interested in finding new bands (it shouldn't take 6 years to go from KsE to Aborted), and that you genuinely like and support the music you listen to. I would also point out that only really popular bands offer pre-orders.

"Other such genres"? And which would those be? ...Metalcore? And, um... hardcore? And metalcore? Oh wait, it's just one. The only one you like.

You just bluster about how you're not a hypocrite, but you won't dare compare tastes. You know for a fact the YouTube videos I've posted have been far more diverse than yours, so you'll just continue to insist your claim, without any evidence.

Oh, here we go. Only later do you edit something in.

Dude, metalcore is as much metal as it is hardcore. Why am I obligated to like a hybrid just because I like one element of the combined two? I wouldn't like a punk/metal hybrid, would you? I wouldn't like a pop/metal hybrid, would you?

Nice, the "I don't have time for this" card. That's right, you don't have time to have me and you drop an atom-bomb of metal knowledge in a public forum, thus supporting all those bands, you'd rather fuck off and assure yourself that you're totally open-minded and I'm a cunty bigot.

EDIT: Oh, also, I don't know why you won't accept, especially considering you tried to tell me a metalcore band wasn't metalcore one time. You should be especially confident that I'm wrong if you don't even know your own genre very well.

Yeah I already started a pointless debate with Bob along a similar line and yet when I posted a link to my friends band Mourning the Memory (shameless promotion) and his opinion was fair and a bit nicer than I expected.

I love the genre of Metal Bob hates, and vice versa. All is fair and its trivial to try and figure out who is more open minded or whatever.

Its all fucking metal, lets just rock out and keep it real.
