Trivium's new album is great.

Older Cannibal Corpse is pretty good.

Cradle of Filth is ok, the higher pitched screaming I don't care for.

Any suggestions on some good bands with the low deep growl?
Nile (which there is a video of on this thread somewhere) has some very very deep growling. Never been my cup of tea but that sounds like what you are looking for.

I have to agree with all this list except for Cradle of Filth which is a fucking brilliant album and the best thing they have done for years. Bring on the high pitched screeching me says!

He's a Trivium fan, you have to give him some time to catch up.

Trivium are the Britney Spears of the metal scene. If they would just drop the "we really, really, really, really, really want to be Metallica" bullshit, they could've remained half decent.

Some new bands i've came across in the last few days;

As Blood Runs Black - I love the double kick at around 3:30 of "My Fears Have Become Phobias" however the rest of the album is much better... more Parkway Drive-ish Hardcore then death metal. Hester Prynne is a favourite of mine though.

All Shall Perish

Through The Eyes Of The Dead

Job For A Cowboy

Nile - The drummer, George Kollias, apparently has the fastest feet in the "biz".

I went to Wacken this year and man I had a blast. But the Press area isn't all you might think. I ended up camping in the general grounds anyway and only went back there a couple times to meet up with Lars and Arkadius. I saw Gaahl and started to approach him but he just did his little scowl and walked away. Now that he's out of the closet, I think he had a little crush on me. King is cool though.
Nachtmystium is awesome just found thier new album. I know what you mean with folk the band that got me into metal was called Elvenking.

Ghaal was problt pissed because someone just tried to kill him and King had to beat some people up... or so ive heard.

into "old school" metal, sabbath, zepplin, iron maiden, anthrax, megadeth, old metallica, pantera, etc.

most everything released since the early 90's is rubbish.

I went and saw Turisas last night. Once again they put on an awesome show. Dragonforce is even worse live than they are on CD, and the place was packed with 10-12 year olds and their parents. Somehow the few Turisas fans ended up in one area, Warlord found us and began paying a lot of attention to that group for the chants etc.

He didn't even try doing the sing along contest for Rasputin since I don't think many people would have known the words, judging from the rest of the performance.
