How dare you sir. While Clerks 2 was typical Kevin "Barely Watchable" Smith, it was a major theatrical release that had King Diamond in it. Thumbs up aces ten, I say.

Also, I think one of the eternal laws of the universe is that no thread will ever actually end on a /thread post.

Of course i didnt expect the thread to end, it was more of a re-wording of:

"Please, people, quoting Smith's opinions about Star Wars, expressed in a half-assed sequel to a great movie is like quoting doctorsleep in an argument about sex. Shut the fuck up"

I hate science fiction AND fantasy, i think that silly escapism is retarded in any form so i'm judging the two trilogies as movies. Star Wars is a crappy, slow paced, juvenile, badkly filmed, badly acted bunch of shit. Lord Of The Rings is a cinematically exzcellent series that has the misfortune to be based on nerd literature and so is debated either nerds or anti-nerds, dimiinishing it's real visual value. Which is high, since it's the first real epic since the golden age of cinema, with visuals that have more to do with Kurosawa than other fantasy crap.

And those are not opinions, they're facts. SO if anyone disagrees, they're wrong.

I have movies i like in both realms but i generally am not interested in both and find them boring. A movie/book/whatever with a sci-fi/fantasy theme must be really good to interest me.

You know what, I'm sorry. I read science-fiction, but my brain only registered "fiction"....so I was thinking you meant you don't like ANY FICTION, which is what blew my mind....I pretty much agree with the science-fiction/fantasy thing, I mean, I wouldn't say I hate science fiction, but I do usually hate fantasy, and science-fiction stuff, especially when it comes to "space-age" shit, needs to be REALLY good to get me into it.

I might watch a sci-fi/fantasy movie, for the hell of it, because they might be mildly entertaining, but they're rarely "classics" or "favorites" to me.

Anyone who watched Clerks 2 and didn't have a chuckle does not function like a human being should and should be put down. Not saying Kevin Smith is superb I mean look at Cop Out but thought Clerks 2 had some great laughs.

Science Fiction though in general mostly not my thing either, however I can definately enjoy if done properly - surely even cynical as fuck Junk cannot deny the awesomeness of the first two Terminator movies?? Aliens not bad either although again only first two movies... sensing a pattern here.

I love the first two terminator movies, T2 in particular. I said if a movies is good i'll like it, i dont care if it's Sci-fi (See the Aliens saga or Carpenter's The Thing, both between my favourite movies).

As for Clerks 2, i chuckled, but i still think it was a mediocre turd compared to the first one, not intelligent as Chasing Amy, reckless as Dogma or good hearted as Zack And Miri. It was mostly a cahs in on popular characters that really had no reason to be.
