They are an American band that were always kind of Alternative rock college band music. One of the founding members left the band last year, Kim Deal, so sad.

They started out in the 80ties and so were somewhere between the Sex Pistols and Nirvana.





Nirvana was quoted as saying they were "Trying to rip off the Pixies"

You can also the documentary of their 2004 tour



That will give you a history of who the Pixies were / are in the spectrum of Alternative music.
