NASA did a study that showed plants flower the most in red light and blue light stimulated internode growth (stem strength).
So I am using 4:1 red to blue lighting. LED so low power draw. The leaves of plants can detect sunlight. They trigger plants to grow or "rest". The length of each cycle affects growth. In Alaska they have very short summers but it's like 16 hours of sunlight. http://www.adn.com/article/20140829/...ska-state-fair So I can adjust the light for yield. |

Everyone says grow weed. I say they are thinking too small. I could keep it a rain forest in there and grow coca. Realistically I thought about grown my own coffee beans. The prototype box pictured will be garlic. If it works I'll do lettuce, tomato, green pepper, onion. Free salads. |

I could do carrots. I was thinking instead of having 5 different boxes I could have one big box with similar environments. I could just monitor the variables for each tray inside the box individually. |
